The Change Manager can call upon a Post Implementation Review (PIR) by the relevant stakeholders to assess if:
-
The change has met its business objective
-
There are no unexpected or undesirable side-effects to functionality, service levels, warranties, e.g.
availability, capacity, reliability, security, performance and costs.
The Post Implementation Review (PIR) outcome must be recorded. In case of minor or standard changes the review is
informal.
Before closing the change, the Change Manager must ensure that all details post change completion, are updated. In case
of missing information, the change must be returned to the Change Coordinator with a request for an appropriate update.
Some of the important information to be tracked after successful implementation of change are: outcome of the change
review (PIR in some cases), CMDB update, closure of all dependent changes. All the related incidents, problems should
be closed when a change is closed. The Change Manager may notify the Change Coordinator and/or Change Requester/Client
of closure of the Change. In some cases, the IT Service Management tool may automatically send e-mails to the
stakeholders stating that the change has been closed.
